Zac Brown Band ? Zac Brown Band Gives Free Show for Troops

The “Chicken Fried” singers have always made an effort to support the troops and most recently Zac Brown Band wrapped up a USO Tour of the Persian Gulf, debuting a very uplifting music video shot during the tour. Posted on CMT.com, fans can see the band performing on dirty and dusty bases, visiting hospitals and being airlifted between the different bases.

The heart-warming footage is accompanied by the band’s track “Free,” which seems a fitting tribute for those serving the country. No matter where they are, the group members always put on a lively show. In other news, Zac Brown Band has been tapped to perform at the CMT Music Awards in June. They will join other popular recording artists including Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. In addition to reserving a spot at one of their upcoming live gigs, tune in for the awards on June 9.

Zac Brown had dreams of becoming a musician in high school, and in college he supported himself by playing small local gigs at various pubs and restaurants. After 9/11, Brown left his studies to play music full time. In 2002, Brown assembled the first Zac Brown Band and they hit the road playing about 200 gigs in their first year. They have been growing ever since.

Their first release, called Home Grown, arrived in 2003 and introduced country fans to the new kids in town. “Chicken Fried” and “Every Little Bit” quickly moved the band to new heights, but it was only the beginning. It was their album Foundation that really helped lay the groundwork for the aspiring country stars. Released in 2008, it featured a collection of funky, good-natured tunes including (once again) “Chicken Fried,” which ultimately became a platinum-selling hit across several music genres.

In addition to making records and booking extensive tours that keep him on the road for extensive periods, Zac Brown also owns his own label called Southern Ground Records. He has signed a plethora of different artists since its inception including the Sonia Leigh Band, Levi Lowrey and Nic Cowan.

In early 2010, the Zac Brown Band was honored with the band’s first Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Later that same year they release Pass the Jar. They’ve managed to do it once again with this cool album. It is a three disc set that was recorded at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Ga. and it best demonstrates the fiery energy of one of their live performances. In addition to a noteworthy collection of some of their best tracks, the band also pays tribute to some of their favorite musical heroes and influences including Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley and Charlie Daniels.

They may have started out small, but over the years the Zac Brown Band has steadily built a reputation for themselves worldwide and with each passing day the country music superstars just keep getting bigger.
