Bonnaroo Music Festival Tickets- Phish, Springsteen, Beastie Boys, NIN to Play Bonnaroo
Phish, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Nine Inch Nails, the Beastie Boys, David Byrne, Al Green, Snoop Dogg, Wilco and Elvis Costello will head the bill for the 2009 Bonnaroo Music Festival, to be held at its usual Manchester, Tenn. location June 11-14. Bonnaroo will be the only festival stop for the reunited Phish in 2009 and will also be the only North American festival stop for the Boss. Phish will play two distinct shows on the Bonnaroo main stage on two different nights, a two-set performance and a late-night set, according to Jonathan Mayers, president of Bonnaroo co-producer Superfly. Mayers told http://Billboard.com, “With Phish, it feels like we’ve come full circle. The Phish festivals and Phish as a band were key inspirations for what we do. We still work with the team that did a lot of their events.” In recent years, Phish frontman Trey Anastasio has taken the stage without the rest of the guys and Phish phans are looking forward to the reunion performances. Bonnaroo is the only confirmed date in 2009 for the Beastie Boys.
Although Elvis Costello is billed as a solo artist, rumor has it that he may collaborate with Allen Toussaint and Rilo Kiley’s Jenny Lewis, with whom he has stepped into the recording studio with in the past. Among other confirmed acts for the 2009 Bonnaroo Music Festival are Erykah Badu, Ben Harper and his new band Relentless7, the Mars Volta, Paul Oakenfold, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Andrew Bird, Merle Haggard, MGMT and TV on the Radio. (Notice a few overlaps from the 2009 Coachella lineup?)
This year the festival is offering a payment plan with five $40 installments as a way to accommodate to the current financial climate. Mayers commented on the layaway ticket plan to http://Billboard.com: “It seems more relevant than ever to offer it. We want to make Bonnaroo as accessible as possible. We really believe in super-serving out audience. If you say, ‘I want to do a music festival,’ there’s nothing really proprietary about that. The details are what make it interesting. These are like never-ending art projects for us.” Live TV coverage from the festival will be provided by Fuse and AT&T Music will offer live Webcasts again this year. The 2009 Bonnaroo is the eighth installation of the famed festival, and promoters purchased the majority of the festival grounds about two-and-a-half-years ago. Permanent infrastructures like electricity are currently being added to the Tennessee site to further keep the promoters within the realm of the budget, which translates to lower ticket sales (better for you and me!). Budget is a concern for underground bands slated to play Bonnaroo like Bon Iver, TV on the Radio, Animal Collective and Andrew Bird as well as African artists like the legendary King Sunny Ade and Toumani Diabate, who will take the stage with Bela Fleck.
