Velvet Revolver Tickets- Velvet Revolvers Leaves RCA

Velvet Revolver asked to be released from its record contract with RCA in order to find a new vocalist to replace Scott Weiland, and the label obliged. According to a statement from the band, they “felt they needed to have complete freedom to go through whatever process it would take to accomplish the goal… freedom from any timelines, pressures, influences or interests other than finding THE best guys.” Velvet Revolver’s manager Carl Stubner released a statement conveying the band’s appreciation for the label understanding their decision: “The band is thankful that RCA understood the task at hand and has allowed the band to continue on their own.” Stubner continued to say that Velvet Revolver “is comprised of some of the greatest rock musicians of the past three decades. They have built a brand with a solid foundation of a global level. And their sole focus has been, and continues to be, finding the singer/songwriter who will stand alongside them.” Velvet Revolver released two albums with RCA, 2004′s Contraband and 2007′s Libertad. Dubbed as simply “the Project” early on, Velvet Revolver emerged when former Guns N’ Roses bandmates Slash (guitar), Duff McKagan (Bass) and Matt Sorum (drums) reunited on stage in the spring of 2002. The trio began playing new material and set out to find a singer, trying out ex-Buckcherry vocalist Josh Todd and Neurotica’s Kelly Shaefer unsuccessfully. By early 2003 they had yet to find a vocalist and VH1 got in on the act, documenting the search on film. After Dave Kushner (Wasted Youth, Dave Navarro) joined the lineup as second guitarist, Stone Temple Pilot’s Scott Weiland recorded a track for the Hulk soundtrack called “Set Me Free.” By this time “the Project” was named Velvet Revolver and Weiland officially became the lead singer, despite personal problems stemming from possession charges the previous May. Velvet Revolver inked a deal with RCA and began playing sporadic gigs and spending time in the studio when possible (according to Weiland’s court-ordered rehab).

RCA announced it would release a Velvet Revolver album in April 2004 but the release date for the full-length debut was pushed back to May and then June. Slash and Duff soldiered on with advance press for Contraband while Weiland concentrated on sobriety and fulfilling court orders and anticipation from fans grew. “Slither,” the album’s lead single, advanced on the rock charts, and when it dropped, Contraband received positive reviews from GNR and STP fans alike. In 2007 Velvet Revolver released their sophomore album, Libertad, and the following year the band hit the road on tour in Australia, Europe and the U.S. but when Weiland entered rehab again the Australian leg of the tour was cancelled. In April 2008 Velvet Revolver announced that Weiland would no longer be part of the band and a few weeks later the troubled vocalist gave an announcement of his own, that he would be reuniting with STP. Velvet Revolver will undoubtedly hit the road once a new singer is in place so get your Velvet Revolver tickets from http://StubHub.com when the time comes!
